Comber Rock - Alaska

Hunden, now this is a site we keep coming back to in Rogaland. It’s got that raw, wild Norwegian feel to it, even with Stavanger just a stone's throw away. What we love about Hunden is its sheer productivity; the current often brings in a real mix of pelagic life. You’re not just looking at the bottom here, you’re scanning the blue. We've had some cracking encounters with harbour porpoises here, flitting past like shadows, and the birdlife above is always a show – Razorbills, Common Gulls, and that flash of a Gannet diving for fish. Below the surface, the rock walls are draped in Irish moss and carragheen, creating this rich, textural backdrop. Keep an eye out for eels tucked into the crevices; they’re surprisingly common. We find the late afternoon, as the light starts to soften, is our favourite time to dive Hunden. The visibility can vary, but even on a murkier day, the big picture is still worth it for the chance of those pelagic sightings. This site really suits divers who appreciate a dynamic environment and don't mind a bit of a current.
