Klunkwoi Rocks - Alaska

Cala Cerrada, in Cabo de Palos, isn’t your typical Mediterranean reef. It’s got a raw, untamed feel we really appreciate. Drop in and you’re immediately into a rocky landscape, pockmarked with crevices and small caves that just beg for exploration. We’ve spent whole dives here just poking into every overhang, often finding marbled electric rays hunkered down in the sand or a grumpy sea scorpion trying to blend into the rocks. The beauty of Cerrada is its subtlety. It’s not about huge pelagics, though we have seen blue stingrays cruise by in the deeper sections. Here, it’s all about the smaller, fascinating residents: elegant cuttlefish putting on a colour show, ribbonfish darting through the seagrass, or a particularly bold ringneck blenny guarding its territory. Visibility can be a bit variable, especially after a good blow, but on a calm day, it’s a brilliant spot for macro enthusiasts and anyone who loves a good poke-around dive. We always recommend going a bit slower here, really taking your time to scan the nooks; that’s when the rewards appear.
