Quequitz Reefs - Alaska

Aquario Nord is where we send divers looking for something a bit different in Vlora. It’s not about grand vistas here. Think intimate, a slower dive where you’re really looking into the nooks and crannies. We usually recommend it for those who enjoy hunting for the smaller stuff, or just want a relaxed second dive. Drop in and you’re immediately enveloped by dense patches of European fan-worms, their feathery plumes swaying with the gentle surge. It’s a hypnotic sight, and often hides the real stars. Take your time scanning the rock crevices; that’s where we’ve found marbled electric rays buried in the sand, and once, a scarlet coral blooming almost impossibly bright. Sunset cup corals cling to overhangs, their polyps extended like tiny, alien flowers. We’ve even spotted the occasional bearded fireworm inching along the rock face, so watch your fingers! The light plays beautifully through the water, especially mid-morning, catching the shimmer of poor cod darting between rocks. It’s not a deep dive, making it perfect for extending bottom time and really soaking it all in.
