Why dive here
With 87+ marine species recorded in the area - including bull sharks, dolphins, hammerhead sharks, seahorses and sea turtles - Playpen offers some of Florida Keys's richest diving. Water ranges 19-32°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Playpen in the Florida Keys lives up to its name, offering a sheltered, sandy bottom that's a good spot for newer divers or for a relaxed second dive. You’ll often find nurse sharks resting in the sand, plus plenty of conch and smaller reef fish. It’s a comfortable site, especially if the currents are up elsewhere, and we often see dive courses running here.
