The Spirit of Miami - Florida Keys
The Spirit of Miami, a former Boeing 727, sits upright on the seabed off Key Biscayne. It’s a purposeful artificial reef, sunk back in 1993, and has had ample time to attract plenty of residents. We’ve found barracuda often patrolling the fuselage, and schools of grunts will mill about the wings. The cockpit is a particular highlight, often home to a large Goliath grouper, if you’re lucky. It's a relatively easy dive, usually with good visibility, making it a good pick for those new to wreck diving or looking for something a bit different from the usual reef.
