COLONA IV (POSSIBLY) - Hurghada

The Colona IV, a dive support craft, went down after a storm back in '98, and honestly, it’s one of our favourite Hurghada wrecks for a relaxed afternoon dive. You’ll find it sitting upright, fairly intact, with a maximum depth of 29 metres, which makes it perfect for advanced open water divers looking for some proper penetration without needing technical certs. We love how the wreck is just the right size to explore thoroughly in one dive, poking around the engine room or checking out the bridge. What really makes the Colona IV sing, though, is the coral growth. It’s not just a steel hulk; the deck and superstructure are plastered in soft corals, swaying gently with the surge. Schools of glassfish shimmer in every dark corner, and we’ve often spotted lionfish perched regally, totally unfazed by divers. Keep an eye out for moray eels too – they love the nooks and crannies. The visibility here is usually excellent, so you get a great sense of the wreck's scale as you descend. Go early afternoon for the best light on the coral.
