Dorfa El Fanus West - Hurghada

We’ll be honest, when dive boats pull up to Dorfa El Fanus West, it mostly looks like another Hurghada mooring spot, but we think that’s part of its charm. Drop in and you’re greeted by a gentle slope, maybe 12 to 18 meters, that’s just perfect for an easy, unhurried drift. We love it for a second dive or a relaxed check-out. Keep an eye out for the small stuff here. We’ve had some fantastic encounters with black blennies peeking from their holes and those distinctive red emperor fish darting between the coral heads. The real draw for us, though, is the anemone patch. It’s home to a bustling community of sebae anemones, and you’ll often find them swaying with their resident clownfish, seemingly oblivious to divers passing by. This site often has calmer conditions than some of the more exposed reefs, making it a good choice if you’re still getting comfortable in the water or just want a chill dive. We always find something new here, whether it’s a camouflage grouper trying (and usually failing) to blend in, or a flash of an Arabian angelfish. It’s a good reminder that not every dive needs dramatic drop-offs to be rewarding.
