El Fanadir Dacht - Hurghada

El Fanadir Dacht might be a popular mooring spot, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's just another Hurghada dive. We consider it a fantastic, chill drift, especially when you catch it early. Picture this: a long, shallow reef wall that stretches out, gently sloping from about 10 metres down to 20 or so. Our favourite part has to be the overhangs and small caves carved into the wall; they're magnets for juvenile fish and those peculiar Red Sea blennies, like the Mimic Blenny, bobbing their heads. The current here is usually mild, pushing you along without much effort, which is ideal for just kicking back and spotting the smaller stuff. We've often seen Diagonal Butterflyfish darting in and out of the corals, and the Rusty Parrotfish are always busy scraping away at the reef. Keep an eye out for the Bluestripe Pipefish tucked into the crevices – they’re easy to miss if you’re not looking. It's a superb site for photographers who appreciate macro life and anyone wanting a relaxed dive after some of the more vigorous drifts in the area.
