El Fanadir West - Hurghada

El Fanadir West often gets overshadowed by its more famous neighbours in Hurghada, but for us, it's a real standout. We love coming here for a relaxed drift, particularly when the current picks up a little. Drop in, and you're immediately gliding over a gentle slope that buzzes with activity. Keep your eyes peeled for the little guys – this place is brilliant for finding Crested Sabretooth Blennies popping out of the sand, and the Smooth-fin and Bluebell Blennies are everywhere if you slow down and look closely. We’ve had cracking dives here watching Polkadot Cod weave through the coral heads, and the Spangled Emperor are always cruising past in good numbers. It’s also one of our favourite spots to see Klunzinger's Wrasse, their colours really pop against the reef. We find El Fanadir West shines brightest in the morning, before the boat traffic gets too heavy, and the light hits the reef just right. It's a great choice for divers who appreciate the subtler beauties of the reef, perfect for photographers wanting to capture those macro details without fighting a crowd.
