Jotao Abu Galawa - Hurghada

Jotao Abu Galawa is one of those Hurghada sites we love for its simplicity and the sheer volume of little things hiding in plain sight. It’s a great drift dive, often run as a gentle float along the main reef. Keep an eye on the sand flats here, you’ll usually spot Bottleneck Sea Cucumbers and sometimes even a White Dolphin cruising by if you’re lucky. We always find ourselves lingering around the coral heads, checking crevices for Black Blennies and their Crested Sabretooth cousins. The light here can be incredible, shafts piercing down through schools of Scissortail Sergeants. Our favourite part has to be the small bommies just off the main wall, where you’ll consistently find Polkadot Cod and plenty of Red and Small-eyed Squirrelfish darting into shadows. It’s a really relaxed dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to take it slow and appreciate the details.
