Sachua Abu Galawa - Hurghada

Sachua Abu Galawa is one of those Hurghada sites we always come back to. We love it because it’s a gently sloping reef, shallow enough to properly soak in the sunlight, which brings out the reds and oranges in everything. You’ll drift along, maybe at 10 to 15 metres, often with a slight current nudging you north. Look for the big schools of Marbled Spinefoot, they really do gather here in impressive numbers. We’ve also had some great encounters with Bluestripe Pipefish tucked into the smaller coral heads, and the Grey Sweetlips are often hanging out under the ledges, looking a bit sleepy. It’s a comfortable, easy dive, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. The light plays beautifully on the sandy patches, and the hard corals are surprisingly healthy, especially for a Hurghada site that sees a bit of traffic. If you’re into spotting those smaller, often overlooked species, Sachua Abu Galawa delivers. Keep an eye out for the Banded Blenny – they’re quite common here. It’s a great site to just slow down and observe.
