YANILA - Hurghada

Yanila, oh Yanila. This isn't your deep, dramatic wreck dive, and that's precisely why we love it. Sitting in a mere five metres, the motor vessel's mast breaks the surface, a beacon for what lies below. It's a fantastic spot for a second dive or even a snorkel if you’re keen to just float above it all. The wreck itself, while not huge, is wonderfully intact for its age and depth. You can easily swim through the cargo holds, imagining what she carried on her last voyage. Sunlight filters down, painting the interior in shifting beams, and the way the light plays off the metal is just captivating. We've spent ages just watching the schools of glassfish shimmer inside, their tiny bodies reflecting the light like a disco ball. Look closer and you'll often spot scorpionfish camouflaged on the deck, or a moray eel peeking from a crevice. Our favourite detail is the stern, still relatively whole, with soft corals starting to bloom on the railing. It’s an easy, relaxed exploration, perfect for photographers wanting to play with ambient light or newer divers getting their first taste of wreck diving without the pressure of depth. Dive it in the morning for the best light penetration.
