OLIVIA - Dahlak Archipelago

The Dahlak Archipelago holds its secrets close, and Olivia is one of our favourites. This isn't a deep dive, just 14 metres, making it perfect for an extended bottom time, really letting you soak in the atmosphere. We love how the shallow depth paints the wreck in a constantly shifting light, especially around midday when the sun streams through the superstructure. Olivia herself is a dangerous wreck, no doubt, but that's part of her allure. She’s a ghost ship, a real piece of history from a bygone era, and you feel that as you swim over her decks. The coral growth isn't explosive like some Red Sea sites, but it's developing, with pockets of hard corals providing shelter for the resident reef fish. Look closely into the shadowy nooks, we’ve often found lionfish hovering patiently, their fins fanned out. This site is less about a riot of colour and more about the quiet grandeur of a vessel slowly reclaiming by the sea. It's a dive that rewards slow exploration and a keen eye for detail.
