Tank - Aqaba Marine Park
The Tank, properly a Sarb wreck, is one of our favourite dives in Aqaba, hands down. It sits upright, an impressive silhouette in the near-constant good visibility. You drop onto the deck, usually around 6-8 metres, and the immediate draw is the open hatch leading straight into the driver’s compartment. It’s an easy swim-through, just duck your head a little, and you pop out the front. Inside, the light filters green and blue, and the metal walls are coated in a fine layer of silty growth where we’ve often spotted Townsend’s fangblennies peeking out. We love exploring the turret, which is covered in delicate yellow scroll corals and where schools of tiny rainbowfish often flit. Keep an eye out for a grumpy-looking Arabian blenny or a well-camouflaged Rama Rao’s scorpionfish tucked into the crevices. The tank offers enough to hold your interest for a whole dive, especially if you take your time examining the macro life. It’s perfect for newer wreck divers, thanks to the shallow depth and lack of strong currents, but there’s plenty for experienced eyes too.
