MEMAS - Tyre
MEMAS, a steamship sunk during WWII, offers a quiet exploration for divers in the waters off Tyre. This wreck lies at 35 metres, a good depth for advanced recreational divers comfortable with deeper profiles. The torpedo impact split the vessel, leaving distinct sections to navigate. We’ve found moray eels tucked into the engine room and lionfish patrolling the superstructure. While not a coral spectacle, the metal structure provides ample nooks for various critters and a stark reminder of its history. Visibility here can vary, so picking a calm day makes for a much more rewarding dive.
