EVGENIA I (PROBABLY) - Jeddah

The Evgenia I, or what we’re pretty sure is the Evgenia I, sits upright in just 13 metres of water, making it a dream for extended bottom times and photography. We love how accessible this wreck is, even for newer divers, though its size means you'll still want a few dives to properly explore it. The ship's bow points north, and you can easily swim the entire length, spotting huge schools of yellowtail snappers darting through the superstructure. Our favourite part is the engine room, surprisingly open and inviting, where resident lionfish often pose dramatically on the exposed machinery. Visibility is usually excellent here, often 20 metres or more, which really lets you appreciate the scale of the vessel and the way the light plays through the holds. Keep an eye out for batfish patrolling the deck and the occasional green turtle munching on algae growing on the hull. It’s a genuinely engaging dive that rewards a slow, curious exploration.
