FATTH ALKHAIR - Jeddah

Fatth Alkhair is one of those wrecks we find ourselves drawn to again and again in Jeddah. It’s not deep, just 13 metres, but that shallow depth means sunlight bathes the entire site, highlighting the growth that’s taken hold since it went down in 1985. You’ll find the wreck lying on its starboard side, largely intact, with the deck facing towards the surface. We love how accessible it is, perfect for extended bottom times where you can really slow down and appreciate the details. The carrier vessel, all 54 metres of it, is a magnet for juvenile reef fish. Swarms of tiny damselfish and fusiliers flicker around the superstructure, darting in and out of the holds. We’ve seen blue-spotted rays resting in the sand nearby and often spot a moray eel or two peeking from shadowy crevices within the wreck. Our favourite part? Exploring the exposed holds. They’re wide open, inviting you to peek inside, a real playground for light penetration and spotting those shyer creatures tucked away. It's a relaxed dive, ideal for photographers or anyone wanting a good, long look at a piece of history turned artificial reef.
