Mesmairy Wreck 2 - Jeddah

Okay, so the Mesmairy Wreck 2. Not a lot of divers outside the region talk about it, which is a shame because it’s a proper dive. We’re talking about a freighter, split into three main sections, and it’s lying in fairly shallow water, maybe 18 metres max. That means plenty of bottom time to really poke around. Our favourite part has to be the stern section. You can fin right into the cargo hold, and it feels like entering a sunken cathedral, shafts of light piercing through gaps in the hull. Look up, and you’ll often see schools of snapper hanging motionless against the light, their scales glinting. The bow section is also good for exploring, more collapsed but still with interesting nooks and crannies where groupers like to hide. The mid-section is flatter, but it’s a highway for goatfish and parrotfish, always busy. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light is better for photography, and there’s usually less boat traffic. Currents are generally mild here, making it a relaxed dive, good for those who like to take their time exploring a wreck without feeling rushed. It’s got that classic Red Sea wreck vibe, structure draped in soft corals, glassfish shimmering inside the darker spaces. Honestly, it’s a rewarding dive, especially if you appreciate a wreck that’s had time to truly become part of the reef.
