COLENIA - Dubai & Abu Dhabi

Colenia is an unusual one, a wreck site that sits in barely two metres of water off Das Island. We’re talking proper shallow, almost snorkel-depth stuff. This tug, built in '49 and sunk in '75, isn’t about dramatic depths or cutting-edge visibility. Instead, it’s a living history lesson, the kind of spot where you can fin around the entire 41-metre length and feel the years on its hull. What we love here is the light. Sunlight streams right through the entire wreck, illuminating every crevice, making for some truly stunning photo opportunities. You'll spot schools of juvenile snapper darting through the rusted superstructure and anemones clinging to the deck plates. It’s a gentle exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate the quiet charm of a well-aged wreck without the nitrogen narcosis. Our favourite time to visit is late morning when the sun is high, really making the most of that incredible natural light. Just watch your buoyancy; it’s easy to stir up the bottom here if you’re not careful.
