LION CITY - Dubai & Abu Dhabi
Okay, let's talk about the Lion City. This isn't your average purpose-sunk wreck. This old tanker, down at 23 metres, has a story – sunk inadvertently by the UAE armed forces back in '83 while testing missiles. You can feel that history as you descend onto its deck. The wreck itself is about 60 metres long, quite upright, and offers some really good penetration opportunities if you're qualified and careful. We love swimming through the holds, imagining what it was like topside before its unexpected end. Visibility can vary here, sometimes it’s a little murky, but that just adds to the atmosphere, a proper ghostly shipwreck vibe. Look for the resident snapper and barracuda schools that have made this their home. There’s also surprisingly good macro life if you take your time and peer into the nooks and crannies. This dive suits advanced open water divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and overhead environments. It's a proper adventure, not just a coral garden cruise.
