LION CITY NO 2 - Dubai & Abu Dhabi
Lion City No 2, a tanker now resting at 11 meters, is one of those Dubai wrecks that consistently delivers. We really love how accessible it is, sitting upright and pretty much intact. You’ll find the deck at a comfortable 7-8 meters, perfect for a long bottom time, giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the various holds and superstructure. Penetration is possible for trained wreck divers, but even if you’re just peering into the darkened interiors, you’ll catch glimpses of school after school of snapper. The wreck itself has become a magnet for marine life. We’ve seen giant moray eels peeking out from pipes, and often, a resident stingray glides across the sand nearby. The sheer quantity of fusiliers around the bow can be so dense it feels like swimming through a silver cloud. Our favourite spot is definitely the stern, where the propeller still sits proud, often covered in colourful soft corals and a congregation of emperor angelfish. This site is brilliant for newer wreck divers or photographers wanting a relaxed dive with consistent subjects. Look out for the nudibranchs on the railings, they’re often overlooked but always a treat.
