MV Dara Wreck - Dubai & Abu Dhabi

The MV Dara wreck, a passenger liner sunk in 1961, isn't just a dive site, it’s a piece of history resting on the seabed. Sitting at a comfortable 18-20m, it’s an intermediate dive, perfectly suited for those looking to explore a proper, substantial wreck without extreme depths or currents. We love the way this site feels like an evolving museum exhibit. What you'll find here is a true artificial reef. Schools of yellowstripe scad often swirl around the superstructure, and we’ve spotted green turtles gliding by on more than one occasion. Our favourite part has to be the smaller details: we often spend time looking for red swimming crabs scuttling across the corroded metal and peering into nooks where silver bream hide. The Dara offers enough penetration opportunities for those with the right training, but equally, circumnavigating the exterior is rewarding in itself. Look for the stony and pagoda corals slowly encrusting the decks. It’s a compelling dive that changes subtly with each visit.
