PISCES - Dubai & Abu Dhabi

The MV *Pisces* isn't one of those wrecks that’ll make the covers of dive magazines, but we love it for its quiet charm and the history it holds. This supply vessel went down in the Fateh oilfield back in '74, capsizing before settling upright at 40 metres. That depth means it’s best suited for experienced divers comfortable with decompression stops, but what a reward for the effort. Dropping down, the *Pisces* emerges from the hazy blue, its 50-metre length slowly revealing itself. We’ve found the stern section particularly interesting, with its prop still largely intact. Schools of yellowtail barracuda often hang motionless off the bow, and we’ve spotted giant moray eels peeking from beneath plates of twisted metal. Penetration is limited, but we enjoy exploring the bridge area, which offers a glimpse into the vessel's working life. Visibility here can vary; aim for slack tide if you can, it makes a real difference to enjoying the wreck's scale. It’s a proper historical piece, a real testament to the early days of oil exploration in the Gulf.
