Younani - Dubai & Abu Dhabi

Younani is a proper ship, not some artificial reef sunk for tourism, and that history makes a difference. It’s a small freighter that went down in 1958, resting upright in only 5 meters of water. We love the easy access and the fact that you can spend a full hour just poking around. The wreck itself is broken, but you can clearly make out the bow, stern, and hold sections. We always find something new here, often it’s a big honeycomb moray peeking from a dark corner or a turtle grazing on the nearby seagrass. Because it’s so shallow, the light penetration is incredible, painting the metal in shifting blues and greens. Look for the tiny nudibranchs, often on the soft corals that have started to sprout from the hull. It’s a fantastic spot for new divers to get their first taste of wreck diving without the pressure of depth, and for photographers, the ambient light is a dream. Our favourite time to dive Younani is mid-morning, just after the sun has properly risen but before the afternoon chop can kick in.
