YVONNE - Dubai & Abu Dhabi

The MV Yvonne, a motor vessel that went down in 1976, is a real favourite of ours when diving out of Dubai. We love a wreck with a bit of history, and she certainly delivers, making for a fascinating dive at a manageable 25 metres. You’ll find her off Das Island, a little deeper than some of the other local wrecks, which often means fewer divers and a calmer experience. What makes the Yvonne a standout is how time has treated her. She’s broken into a few large sections, scattered across the seafloor, which just invites exploration. You can swim through the former cargo holds, imagining what she might have carried between Doha and Dubai before that fateful heavy weather. The structure is well-colonised now, with clouds of fusiliers darting around the superstructure and moray eels peeking out from darkened crevices. Keep an eye out for batfish patrolling the deeper parts of the wreck; they’re often quite curious. We'd suggest looking for a day with minimal current, as it can pick up here, making the penetration bits a bit trickier. It's a proper wreck dive, perfect for those with a bit of experience who appreciate a ship’s story.
