AL MEERA - Fujairah
The Al Meera wreck is a shallow dive, just five metres deep, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's boring. This isn't some broken-up debris field; it’s a proper landing craft, surprisingly intact for its age and the knocks it’s taken. We love that you can still make out the bow ramp and the flat deck, a real testament to its original form. What we really enjoy about the Al Meera is how accessible it is. You can spend a good chunk of time just finning around the superstructure, peering into the open holds where the light plays off the metal. It’s a great spot for newer divers to get a feel for wreck penetration, as there are plenty of open areas to explore without ever feeling enclosed. Look closely at the hull and you’ll spot clownfish peeking out from anemones, and we often see schools of snapper hanging out under the overhangs. For photographers, the ambient light here is fantastic, especially mid-morning when the sun hits the deck just right.

The history of the Al Meera landing craft is shrouded in mystery, but its final resting place in the shallow waters off Fujairah has made it a popular and intriguing dive site. Lying at just 5 meters, this wreck is perfect for novice divers, snorkelers, and those looking for a relaxed final dive of the day. Although the cause of its sinking is unknown, its official classification as a 'dangerous wreck' serves as a reminder for divers to be cautious of sharp metal edges and potential entanglement hazards. The shallow depth allows for long bottom times and excellent light for photography, illuminating the corals and sponges that have colonized its structure and the schools of small fish that now call the Al Meera home.
