DARYA-VAND XI - Fujairah

The DARYA-VAND XI is a proper Fujairah classic. This tug, 56 metres long, went down in 1995 and now sits upright at a gentle 16 metres, making it accessible for most open water divers. We love that it’s still so intact. You can swim through the superstructure, navigating between the wheelhouse and the engine room, feeling the tight squeeze in some spots as schools of snapper stream past the portholes. On a good day, with visibility stretching out, the bow looms out of the blue like a ghostly ship. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the prop is still there, usually covered in a thick carpet of soft corals. Look for moray eels tucked into every nook. We've even seen reef sharks patrolling the perimeter in the late afternoon. It's an easy dive, often with minimal current, perfect for a relaxed explore, getting right inside the wreck. Just watch your buoyancy; the silt inside can kick up pretty easily.
