KHATRI - Fujairah

Khatri isn't about depth, that's for sure. This merchant vessel, grounded just off Fujairah in the early '90s, offers a unique kind of dive experience. We love how accessible it is, sitting in barely a metre of water, which makes it perfect for a long, relaxed snorkel or a very shallow dive. We’d suggest going at high tide to get the most out of it. Even though its upper structure was removed long ago, there’s still plenty to explore. You’ll find schools of snapper weaving through the remaining ribs and beams, and we’ve often seen rays gliding over the sandy bottom nearby. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs too, clinging to the rust-coloured metal – they’re surprisingly colourful against the muted tones of the wreck. It’s a great spot for photographers, especially with good natural light, and our favourite for a chilled out surface interval or a final easy dip.
