MARIAM EXPRESS - Fujairah

The Mariam Express, Fujairah’s big roll on-roll off ferry, sits upright at 18 metres, and it’s a site we consistently enjoy. At 91 metres long, you’re looking at a proper wreck dive, not just some scattered debris. We love how the vehicle decks are still wide open, inviting you in for a swim-through without feeling tight or claustrophobic. It’s perfect for those comfortable with overhead environments but not yet ready for deep penetration. There’s often a current here, which keeps the visibility decent, typically 10-15 metres, but it also means you’ll want to time your dive around slack tide if you’re not keen on a workout. Inside, you’ll find schools of yellowfin barracuda hanging motionless, and we’ve seen giant morays peeking out from behind pillars. Look closely on the hull for nudibranchs; they’re surprisingly plentiful. Our favourite spot is the stern, where the prop is still intact, usually covered in glassfish and patrolled by a few grumpy-looking groupers. It’s a classic, accessible wreck that offers something new on every visit.
