WATER LILY - Fujairah

We love Water Lily. It's a shallow wreck, barely two metres deep, but don't let that fool you. This old barge, scuttled back in '77, is our favourite spot for an extended, relaxed dive, especially when the sun's high. You get this incredible play of light through the water, dappling the wreck, making the resident lionfish look even more dramatic as they hang suspended. You can spend a good hour just finning around, through, and over the remaining structure. There are always schools of bream and snapper darting in and out, and we’ve often spotted honeycomb morays tucked into crevices. The coral growth is surprising for such a shallow wreck, lots of colourful soft corals and anemones clinging to the metal. It’s perfect for photographers wanting to practice wide-angle shots with natural light, or for newer divers building confidence around a structure without deep-water pressure. Just watch out for the occasional fishing line snagged on the wreck, a gentle reminder to always carry a knife.
