ATAITI - Mar del Plata

Ataiti, right off Mar del Plata, isn’t your deep-sea epic. This is for the snorkelers, the freedivers, and anyone who loves a bit of history just below the surface. We love how accessible it is, sitting in barely a meter of water. The remains of the sailing vessel, run aground over a century ago, are now a skeletal playground. You’ll weave through barnacle-encrusted ribs and rusted timbers, sunlight dappling the sand around you. It’s less about big pelagics and more about the small, resilient creatures that call this wreck home. Crabs scuttling through the crevices, anemones waving gently from the hull, and schools of small silversides darting in and out of the shadows. On a calm day, the visibility is fantastic, letting you truly appreciate the scale of the old ship. Our favourite time to visit is early morning before the beach gets busy, when the water is still, and you can almost hear the ghost of its past. It's a surprisingly poignant spot, a testament to time and the sea's relentless embrace.
