CASCO A - Mar del Plata

Diving Casco A, it’s not about depth, because you’re barely getting your mask wet, but it’s absolutely about the story. This isn't some deep, dark wreck; it’s a living, breathing history lesson right on the surface. We love how the remains of this old freighter are so accessible, a skeleton barely breaking the waves, constantly shifting with the sand. You’ll spend your time peering into the rusted sections, seeing how the light plays through the gaps in the hull, and watching the small fish dart in and out of the crevices. It’s an incredible site for photographers, especially at sunrise or sunset, when the light paints the metal in incredible colours. Our favourite time to visit is on a calm day; even a slight chop can stir up the sediment and cut visibility down to a few metres. Look closely, and you’ll spot crabs scuttling across the metal plates and anemones clinging to the barnacle-encrusted framework. This site really suits anyone looking for something a bit different, a chance to connect with maritime history in a completely unique way. It's a dive that reminds you sometimes the most compelling stories are right there on the surface.
