CHATA NO 13 - Mar del Plata

Chata No 13 isn’t for everyone, but if you’re into proper wreck diving, the kind that feels like stepping back in time, this is it. We love the sheer history of the place. It's a dangerous wreck, submerged just 10 meters down, right off Mar del Plata. The real draw here is that it's a genuine piece of maritime history, not some scuttled-for-divers afterthought. What you'll find is a large, older wreck, definitely broken up, but still very much a wreck, not just scattered debris. Swimming through the remains, you get a real sense of its past life. We’ve seen conger eels poking out from shadowy corners and schools of hake darting in and out of the metal frames. It’s got that cool, somewhat eerie vibe that only a proper historical wreck delivers. Our favourite part is navigating the twisted metal, imagining the storms it weathered. This site suits divers who appreciate a wreck for its story and character, and who aren’t afraid of a bit of a challenge. Keep an eye on the surge; it can kick up a bit here.
