CIENTOFANTE Y SERRANO - Mar del Plata

Cientofante y Serrano in Mar del Plata is one of those spots we talk about over a mate, not a beer. It’s a shallow wreck, barely two metres deep, but that’s its charm. You don't get the huge schools of fish here, but we love the way the light filters through the water, illuminating the ghostly ribs of the old fishing vessel. It's a proper wreck, not just a pile of debris, and the mast still stands, reaching for the surface. We always find conger eels tucked into the darker crevices, and the kelp sways around the hull, giving it a real atmospheric feel. It’s a fantastic spot for snorkelers or new divers getting comfortable around an actual wreck, offering a glimpse into Mar del Plata's maritime past without the pressure of depth or currents. Our favourite time to visit is on a calm morning, just after sunrise, when the water is still and you practically have the wreck to yourself.
