DALMACIA - Mar del Plata

The Dalmacia wreck off Mar del Plata offers something different. It’s not about depth here, maxing out at a mere 4 metres. This is a shallow, accessible wreck, perfect for a long bottom time and really getting to know the site. We love the historical angle; she was a trawler sunk back in the 60s, a storm getting the better of her after she’d already been beached. You’ll find her broken up, but still very much a wreck, steel plates twisted and torn, creating swim-throughs just big enough for a single diver. Our favourite spot is tucked away under a large hull section, where the light filters through, illuminating schools of silversides. Look closely at the metalwork; it's a tapestry of mussels, anemones, and small crabs. Visibility can be a bit variable, so we'd suggest picking a calm day, ideally after a few days without strong onshore winds – that’s when you’ll get the clearest view of the site. It's a fantastic spot for photographers looking to play with natural light and macro subjects without the pressure of a deep dive.
