Don Isidoro - Mar del Plata

Okay, look, Don Isidoro isn't going to break any depth records. At a maximum of two metres, this is more of a snorkel or a free-dive, but for what it is, we absolutely love it. The wreck sits right there, easy to spot, a ghostly, half-submerged reminder of its past life. We usually visit at high tide, when there’s just enough water to really get a feel for the bow and stern sections, which remain surprisingly intact. What you'll find here is a genuine slice of maritime history, not some purpose-sunk artificial reef. It’s been down there long enough for small shoals of silversides to call it home, darting in and out of the rusted plating. We’ve seen quite a few crabs scuttling across the seabed next to the hull, and the occasional juvenile grouper poking its head out from under a plate. It’s perfect for families, or anyone who wants a relaxed dip with a bit of a story behind it. Honestly, it’s our favourite kind of shallow exploration, simple and utterly charming.
