Don Sebastián - Mar del Plata

Don Sebastián isn't your typical wreck dive, and that's precisely why we love it. At a mere 4 metres deep, it's more an archaeological playground than a deep exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate history and macro life. We're talking about the remains of a German blockade runner, scuttled back in 1914 – you can almost feel the whispers of its past as you glide over the scattered hull plates and ribs. The visibility here can be hit or miss, but when it’s good, it’s a revelation. You’ll spend your time poking around the rusted metal, discovering an astonishing array of nudibranchs, often in vibrant colours, clinging to the encrusted surfaces. Look closely into the crevices; we've found surprisingly large crabs tucked away, along with the occasional moray eel peering out. Our favourite part? How the light filters through the shallow water, illuminating the wreck in shifting patterns, making the details pop. It’s a site that rewards slow, deliberate diving, ideal for photographers or anyone who enjoys the quiet thrill of discovery. We'd suggest going on a calm day; it really makes a difference.
