DONA ADA - Mar del Plata

We’re big fans of wreck diving, and Dona Ada, just off Mar del Plata, is a standout. It’s an old fishing trawler, sunk deliberately back in 2004, and at only 8 metres deep, it’s remarkably accessible. What we love about it is how quickly it’s transformed into a home for marine life. You’ll find kelp draping the structure, swaying gently with the surge, and the nooks and crannies are packed with crabs and small fish. Dropping down, the visibility can vary a bit – it’s the Atlantic, after all – but when it’s good, the sunlight filters through the kelp, giving the wreck a green, otherworldly glow. We always take our time poking around the superstructure, imagining the trawler’s working life. It’s not a huge wreck, but there’s enough to explore for a solid dive, especially if you enjoy spotting the smaller creatures that have moved in. This is a brilliant site for newer wreck divers or anyone who just enjoys a relaxed dive with a bit of history to it.
