DONA CATALINA MARIA - Mar del Plata

Forget your preconceived notions of wreck diving, because Dona Catalina Maria isn't about deep, challenging dives. This is a shallow, surprisingly accessible wreck, sitting at a mere three metres, just off the coast of Mar del Plata. We love how the hull is broken and spread, creating a maze of twisted metal for sunlight to dance through. It's an ideal spot for newer divers to experience a wreck without the anxiety of depth, or for photographers looking to play with natural light filtering through the structure. You'll spend your time exploring the collapsed decks, where nudibranchs often cling to the encrusted metal and small schools of silversides dart between the beams. Our favourite part is the way the wreck has become a home; you'll spot rock crabs scuttling into crevices and anemones waving from every surface. Be sure to go on a calm day – even at this depth, surge can make things interesting. We’d suggest a mid-morning dive before boat traffic picks up, letting you really appreciate the quiet colonisation of this old ship.
