Dong Bang Nº 57 - Mar del Plata

The Dong Bang Nº 57 is one of those sites that just feels *right* for a wreck dive, even if it’s relatively shallow at 10 metres. We love how accessible it is, sitting upright and broken, practically inviting you to explore its open cargo holds. The history here adds another layer, knowing this fishing vessel met its end in a storm back in '97. Currents can be a bit tricky, which is probably why it's classified as a dangerous wreck, but pick your day and you’ll find it manageable. Inside, it’s a spooky, beautiful tangle of metal where schools of hake shelter, and we often spot conger eels poking their heads out from under plates. The way the light filters through the superstructure, catching the silvery scales of the fish, is genuinely captivating. It's a great dive for anyone keen on getting hands-on with a substantial wreck, especially if you appreciate the quiet drama of a ship slowly returning to the sea. Our favourite part? Peeking into the engine room, even if it’s just a glimpse.
