E.Rosa - Mar del Plata

The E. Rosa isn't deep, we're talking a metre or less, but that doesn't make it any less compelling. It’s a wreck dive, obviously, but one that feels more like an archaeological dig given its age. We love the history here, the bones of a century-old fishing boat lying broken in the shallow surf, reminding you of Mar del Plata's maritime past. Diving the E. Rosa is a peculiar experience. You're practically snorkelling, but exploring a substantial wooden hull that's been battered by countless storms. Look closely and you'll spot small crabs scuttling amongst the ribs, and tiny schooling fish darting through gaps in the decaying timber. Our favourite time to visit is just after a calm spell; the water clarity is at its best, and you can really appreciate the structure, rather than just a blurry outline. It’s a site for those who appreciate history and the power of the ocean to reclaim even the largest structures, rather than chasing big pelagics.
