EVARISTO L - Mar del Plata

Evaristo L isn't your deep, dramatic shipwreck, but we love it for its sheer accessibility and the sense of history it offers. At just three meters deep, it’s a perfect spot for new divers or anyone looking for a relaxed, long bottom time. We think the best time to dive here is on a calm, sunny day when the light penetrates the shallow water, illuminating the hull's details. What you'll find here is the skeletal remains of a cargo ship, sunk way back in 1929. The wooden superstructure is long gone, but the metal framework is still very much there, acting as an artificial reef. You can weave through the exposed ribs of the wreck, almost feeling the years of history under your fingertips. Small shoals of silversides often shimmer around the broken sections, darting into the shadows. Look closely, and you'll spot crabs scuttling over the rust-coloured plates and anemones clinging to the metal. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, less about big pelagics and more about the intricate, small-scale life that has claimed this sunken vessel. We always find something new to observe here, a different angle, a new creature tucked away.
