Ex Murature - Mar del Plata

Ex Murature is one of those sites that just feels right for a quick, relaxed dive after a morning empanada. We love how accessible it is, sitting just four metres down. It’s an old fishing trawler, apparently scuttled back in the 1990s, and time has definitely been kind to it. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, but that’s part of its charm. You can swim right through the hold, which is now home to a surprising number of small crabs tucked into every crevice. Our favourite part is the way the light filters through the shallower sections, highlighting the anemones that have really started to take over the metal plating. You’ll spot a lot of nudibranchs, especially in the late spring, and the odd juvenile hake darting between the rusty frames. Visibility here can be a bit hit or miss, depending on the day and recent weather, so we’d suggest going on a calm morning. It’s perfect for new divers getting comfortable with wreck penetration, or for anyone wanting a leisurely explore without the pressure of depth. A gentle current sometimes rolls through, making for an easy drift past the main structure.
