FLAMENCO - Mar del Plata

Flamenco isn't your typical shipwreck. This old sailing vessel, sunk deliberately in the early 2000s, sits upright in surprisingly shallow water, making it incredibly accessible for newer wreck divers or those just wanting a relaxed dive. We love that you can follow the mast right down to the deck, getting a real sense of its former glory, even if it's slowly dissolving into the sand. The real draw here is the sheer density of king crabs. They practically carpet the deck and superstructure, scuttling into every nook and cranny. You'll also find schools of silversides darting in and out of the hold, creating a shimmering curtain. Look closely among the barnacle-encrusted hull plates and you might spot a juvenile octopus or even a moray eel peeking out. It's an easy dive, often with decent visibility, but keep an eye on the surge if there's any swell. The zero-meter depth listed is a bit misleading; you'll find the top of the mast around 5-7 meters, dropping to the deck at about 15 meters, perfect for an extended bottom time.
