GUARANI - Mar del Plata

The Guarani wreck sits in just four metres of water off Mar del Plata, making it a surprisingly accessible and enjoyable dive. It's a light vessel, sunk after a collision, and the shallow depth means long bottom times are the norm. We love exploring the remains of the deck, the bow section still largely intact, and the stern broken up into smaller pieces. Visibility here can swing, but on a good day, the sunlight penetrates right to the bottom, illuminating schools of silversides that dart through the structure. You’ll spot crabs scuttling amongst the plates and sometimes a curious octopus peeking out from a dark corner. It’s not about big pelagics here, but the sheer volume of smaller fish and the way the wreck has become an artificial reef is captivating. Our pick is always to go at high tide; it gives you the best chance for clearer water, and you feel less of the surge against the structure. It's perfect for newer divers, or anyone who enjoys a relaxed potter around a piece of history.
