Havana 7 - Mar del Plata

Havana 7. We love this site. It’s not deep, just 5 metres, but what a character. The wreck itself is a tangle of steel, not a majestic, intact vessel, but a working boat broken up by time and the currents. Our favourite part is navigating the scattered plates and ribs, imagining the boat in its prime, now home to a surprising amount of life. You’ll find schools of silversides darting through the shadows, and we often spot spider crabs clambering over the metal. Look closely in the crevices and you might just catch a glimpse of an octopus, often very curious here. It’s an easy dive, perfect for extending bottom time and really soaking it all in. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light filtering through the surface ripples really makes the wreck gleam. Even with the "dangerous wreck" classification, it’s a friendly dive, more intriguing than intimidating once you’re down there.
