JAMBORE - Mar del Plata

Jambore isn’t for everyone. Let’s be clear, this isn't a "deep wreck" by any stretch; the entire site sits in a shockingly shallow 2 meters of water. But that’s exactly what makes it a standout. We love it because it’s a living, breathing history lesson, accessible to anyone with a mask and fins. The wreck itself is a tangle of steel ribs and plates, the remains of a fishing trawler that met its end on the Mar del Plata breakwater. What you’ll see are the ghost remnants of a working boat, now completely colonized. Crabs scuttle over rusty beams. Small schools of silversides dart between the struts, catching the light from above. It’s a macro playground, a photographer’s dream if you’re into texture and small details. Our favourite time to visit is on a calm, sunny morning when the light penetrates right to the bottom, illuminating every crevice. You can spend an hour just finning slowly around, peering into the shadows, imagining the boat in its prime. It’s a gentle exploration, a chance to connect with something old and new all at once. If you’re a wreck aficionado who usually chases depth, think of Jambore as a delightful palate cleanser, a reminder that some of the best dives are also the simplest.
