Kormoran - Mar del Plata

The Kormoran isn't about tropical fish or colourful corals. It’s a proper piece of history, just off Mar del Plata, and it’s a site we genuinely love for its moody, industrial charm. Lying in just 5 metres of water, it’s remarkably accessible, making it an excellent dive for anyone keen on wreck exploration without the usual depth challenges. What you get here is a substantial, partially salvaged trawler, and the experience is less about finding rare creatures and more about the wreck itself. We always suggest taking your time to trace the hull, imagining the ship in its working days. The engine room is particularly good for poking around, and the large holds, now open to the sky, create these fantastic light shafts on sunny days. Visibility can be a bit variable, a bit silty sometimes, but when it’s good, the sheer scale of the wreck at such shallow depth is impressive. We've seen schools of silversides flickering through the open sections, and a few conger eels have made the deeper crevices their home. It feels like diving a sunken industrial museum.
