LA MADRUGADA - Mar del Plata

La Madrugada is a real standout for us in Mar del Plata, not because it’s a deep dive – it’s a puddle at just 4m – but because of its history. This isn't just a pile of metal; it’s a fishing trawler that met its end during a fierce storm in 1993, driven onto the rocks right near the coast. What you get is a shipwreck accessible to pretty much anyone. We love how the hull is broken into big, explorable sections, making for some fascinating swim-throughs if you're comfortable in confined spaces. Sunlight streaks through the gaps, illuminating the kelp and anenomes that have completely taken over the interior. We’ve seen octopuses tucked into every nook and cranny, and schools of silversides darting in and out of the shadowy spaces. It’s a photographer's dream, especially on those calmer mornings when the surge dies down and the visibility opens up to a decent 5-8 meters. If you’re into easy wreck exploration with a cool backstory, this one’s for you.
