LA PRENSA - Mar del Plata

La Prensa sits just off Mar del Plata, a lighter vessel sunk close to shore. It’s shallow, only four metres deep, making it an easy dive for anyone looking to explore a wreck without needing a huge depth rating. We love how accessible it is, especially for newer divers wanting to get their first taste of wreck diving. You can spend a good chunk of time just finning around the superstructure, tracing the outline of the mast, which still stands proud. The real magic here is how marine life has completely taken over. We've seen an impressive number of crabs scuttling over the metal, and the hold is often packed with small fish darting in and out of the shadows. The light penetration is excellent given the depth, illuminating the growth on the wreck's hull. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm morning; the visibility tends to be at its best then, letting you really appreciate the wreck's character. It’s not about huge pelagics here, but about the intricate world that has made this old vessel its home.
